200 years of the RNLI: A station by station guide to the lifeboat service in the UK and Ireland
On 4 March 2024 the Royal National Lifeboat Institution celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding. The charity was operating 238 lifeboat stations around the coasts of England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, as well as on a number of inland waterways, including the Thames.
This unique volume details every one of those operational lifeboat stations, contains over 800 photographs, and provides a round-the-coast survey of lifeboat stations as they were in 2024.
Each entry contains information about the station’s key dates, the current lifeboats being operated, area of operation and touches upon key incidents such as medal-winning rescues and tragedies when volunteers gave their lives.
