Portishead lifeboat station on the upper reaches of the Bristol Channel operates a state-of-the-art Atlantic 85 lifeboat from a modern lifeboat house, responding rapidly to incidents in the dangerous Severn Estuary.
This book records the history of the station, from the 1970s when lifeboats operated from nearby Pill, to the establishment of the independent lifeboat station in the 1990s, which paved the way for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution to take over.
