The 48ft 6in Oakley and Solent lifeboats were developed and built during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In total five Oakleys and eleven Solents saw service with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
This volume looks at the design, and records the history of all the 48ft 6in lifeboats that were built, with technical information, details of the boats’ many medal-winning services, and numerous photographs, showing the boats both during and after their RNLI service.
