The 47ft Tyne class lifeboat was developed by the RNLI in the late 1970s, primarily to be slipway launched, and forty of the type were built.
This book looks at the development of the design, describes medal services undertaken in Tynes, and contains outline service histories of the forty Tyne class lifeboats, which all gave outstanding service throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
