Whitby lifeboat station is one of the most famous of any on the RNLI’s network around the United Kingdom and Ireland.
A lifeboat has operated from the town since the early years of the nineteenth century, and during the course of more than two centuries Whitby’s volunteer lifeboat crews have carried out many outstanding and daring rescues.
This book traces the long and distinguished history of Whitby lifeboats and lifeboat people since 1802 and describes the major rescues, including the famous Rohilla rescue of 1914.
